Description
In a grove happens a murder. Four persons are involved: the 'fierce' bandit, the 'unyielding' samurai, the 'loyal' wife and a woodcutter who 'witnessed the truth'. Each tells a different and contradictory story.
The adaptation of Japanese writer Ryūnosuke Akutagawa’s works Rashomon and In a Grove was first filmed by the world-renowned Japanese director Akira Kurosawa in the 1950s. Its stage adaption was written by American playwrights Fay Kanin and Michael Kanin in 1959. It has been on Broadway, receiving 3 nominations for the Tony Awards.
